Weekend wrapped up

The long work week officially wrapped up last Friday for most, but the Street Tour continued to work hard and have fun all weekend long at the Protege Basketball Block Party in Mableton and Covington! We were able to hand out P-L-E-N-T-Y of prizes out to all of the Hawks fans who came out to have some fun and get their favorite player's autograph (ours: Dominique Wilkins, of course). On another note, we are still trying to get a hang of this Twitter thing (@street_tour). So if I were to strip Facebook of all it's features minus the status updates, than that is Twitter? Am I missing something here or are my crazy pills kicking in? Outside of being confused about the large concept, I think I've got the hang of the tweet thing. Less than 140 characters? I'm all for it! My first reaction was like the annoying, honors-level high school sophmore who has to write an essay about Macbeth, "Can my paper exceed that length?"

Yes, we have found a way to give you all the updates behind the scenes in an even quicker, less irritating way than this blog.

So, if you have a short attention span and are looking to figure out how the Street Tour thinks (in short, quick spurts) than the Twitter page is for you. We are just trying to feel out this whole Twitter thing, with the hopes that the Street Tour becomes the new Ashton Kutcher (minus the over-the-top, predicatable comedies).

June Events

You don't have to be human to be a Thrashers fan!

Hello Fans!

Thanks for coming back for another installment of "Where was the Street Tour pres. by Coca-Cola last month?"

As June came up on the calender, we noticed that there were not any games this month for the first time in a LONG time. This finally allowed us to focus on getting out to all of our events and have fun with the people of Atlanta. Even though Hawks or Thrashers games were not on the schedule, we still kept a fast pace getting out to several events and helping with basketball and hockey summer camps.

We started the month off by getting out to the 4th Annual CHOICES Children's Expo and bringing some of the inflatables out. Parents and children alike had a blast winning prizes at the Prize Tent and learning about proper nutrition and eating right!

After leaving Woodstock, the Street Tour crew drove down to LaGrange, GA to kick-off the start of the KIA Summer Hoops Tour! We were excited to get down to LaGrange and add to the buzz inside the gym provided by SkyHawk and the one, and only, Human Highlight Reel Dominique Wilkins!

We rounded out the month by attending the 14th Annual Wheelbarrow Festival, hosting the Thrashers 2009 Draft Party, and attending Rock Ranch, GA to Celebrate America!

Majic 107.5/97.5 Suwanee Outdoor Concert Series

Hello Hawks and Thrashers fans!

Thank you to everyone who was able to come out to Majic 107.5/97.5's Outdoor Concert Series in Suwanee Town Center Park! A special thanks goes out to all who visited the Hawks and Thrashers tent in hopes to win tickets to Game 7!

The concert was awesome even though Mother Nature disagreed with a nice little downpour around 9:30 leaving everyone running for cover. Be sure to arrive at the park pretty early if you areexpecting to get a close spot. Don't forget the picnic essentials of blankets, cooler, basket, and ant killer!

In between battles on the Pop-a-Shot and signing up fans we kept our eyes and minds glued to the scoreboard as the Hawks took on the Heat in game six of the first round during the concert. Unfortunately we weren't able to come up with the series clinching W that night, but that gave us the opportunity to clinch at home in front of a packed house of faithful Hawks fans.

At the end of the night, we drew a name for the tickets and we would like to congratulate Allastir for winning a pair of tickets to game 7!
